Jan 2020. I started The Soul Dope Show. I didn't know much about streaming or what equipment to get. I just knew that I wanted to help artists tell their stories. I did some research, bought some stuff and started booking guests.
The following years turned me every which way but loooooooooossseee 😫 BUT through it all, I kept talking to people. I listened to my gut when it told me that I had to keep this show alive...even when I wanted to wrap it up for good.
5 viewers. 50 viewers. 100 viewers. Didn't matter to me. The people and conversations were all I cared about.
Now, the podcast I started in a lil office space (Thank you Rayshawn)is moving to FM radio. 🙌🏾
I didn't start 2026 with this in mind AT ALL...
BUUUT when the message came asking if I was interested, I was READY and said YES.
If God says it's time to expand my territory, who am I to argue?

Qamil is a Indie R&B/Soul artist and the visionary CEO of Soul Dope Entertainment. She is the founder of The Ohio R&B Music Festival and Soul Dope Awards. She is the producer/host of The Soul Dope Radio Show on 98.5FM in Columbus and the live performance series Soul Dope LIVE! and Soul Dope Sessions. She is the current Entertainment & Booking Director SoHo614.
Qamil is the niece of Norma Jean Wright, the former lead vocalist of the 70s disco and R&B band, Chic. She has shared stages with international recording artists including Natalie Stewart of Floetry, Sy Smith, Dwele, Eric Roberson, K Michelle and Adina Howard as well as comedians Marlon Wayans and Joe Clair.
In 2025, she was featured on the track “Groove” alongside Hip Hop Artists, Wise & Ghostface Killah. She was the 2026 recipient of the "Rhythm of A Woman" Trailblazer Award, honoring her work in the Columbus art community.
