Michael is a distinguished leader with a proven track record of service. His career includes significant roles in law, politics, and advocacy, impacting areas from voter protection to children's welfare. Recognized with the George Voinovich Humanitarian Award and inclusion in Columbus Business First’s Power 100, Michael's work has significantly benefited the Columbus community.

Homeport’s homebuyer education classes are HUD certified and include at least two credit and budget reviews, plus closing document review.
Our classes are for first-time homebuyers with a credit score of 640 or better and for those who: are pre-approved by a lender, are in-contract on a home, have or are sorting out down payment, have had steady income for at least 18 months, or have had their bankruptcy discharged/dismissed within the past 2-3 years.

Our hope is to provide affordable homes to those who may work at or around Easton, so they have easy access to the amenities and necessities this area has to offer.

In this new year, we are eager to build on our work maintain long-term affordability and remove every barrier to housing security, ensuring that everyone has a place to call home.

In the coming year, we will launch our Homeport Resident Advisory Council, welcome new residents to the opening of phase two of Easton Place Homes and Fieldstone Cottages, and further expand and integrate our homebuyer services in the community. There is so much ahead of us that we are excited to celebrate.

Housing is a critical issue that affects us all. It impacts our physical and mental health, our financial wellness, our educational and professional opportunities, and ability to contribute to the community. Together, we can build a strong, sustainable community where everyone has a seat at the table and a roof over their heads.

Columbus' proposed budget includes funding to implement city's housing strategy - Columbus Business First 11/14/2024

Housing and services related to keeping Columbus residents in their homes are a big part of Mayor Andrew Ginther's proposed $1.23 billion operating budget for 2025.

The budget includes $4.3 million for housing staff in the Department of Development who administer some $83 million in city bonds, grants and federal housing funds. Erin Prosser, deputy director of housing strategies for Columbus, said the dollars proposed in the operating budget are "follow through" on the city's broader housing strategy.

"This is part of (Columbus') overall success, deliberately including dollars to actually implement the vision," Prosser said.
