Stomp and Shake Division.. I like what the young lady said that this style " It's a good representation of us and it brings representation to our style of cheer and culture".

In the halls of Portland’s Leodis V. McDaniel High School, you might hear the commanding chants and thundering stomps of the school’s cheerleading team. They don’t practice in a gym lined with mats, but in the middle of a hallway where the booming sound travels. The stomp-and-shake style of cheer the team performs relies heavily on rhythm and sound instead of the traditional back handsprings, herkies and toe touches that dominate the Pacific Northwest sidelines and cheer competitions. McDaniel’s team is the first in Oregon to officially switch to the style, which originated in historically Black colleges and universities. Other Portland teams have incorporated the style in their routines, as Jefferson High School’s has for decades, but McDaniel’s cheerleaders fully embrace it at competition and want more teams to join them.
