History check: Anna Jarvis wanted people to recognize and honor the women who held communities together. Not expensive cards, not picture perfect brunches, not any of the pop culture things that have replaced her original idea. Mother’s Day can be such treacherous territory for so many people. People who wanted to become mothers and life didn’t move that way, people with an estranged children, people whose mothers have died. Let’s instead acknowledge the people who do the work of caring for others.

After many meaningful years in this space, Reden will be closing its current studio location on May 31.
This decision comes from both thoughtful consideration and a clear sense that it is time for the next phase.
The work itself continues—just in a different form.
I’m deeply grateful for all that has been created here, and for the community that has shaped it.
More to come.

There are plants called fire followers (pyrophiles) that sprout and bloom after a wildfire has devastated a landscape. The heat and the nutrient rich ash quickens them to grow. It is possible to remember love even in devastation.
