Capital University was proud to join I Know I Can in celebrating the 2026 Founders Scholars and their incredible achievements.

Stephanie and Makayla had the opportunity to celebrate alongside students, families, educators, mentors, and community supporters during an evening that highlighted the power of hard work, determination, and a strong support system.

Capital University alumna Aurianna Hobson ’24 arrived on campus with plans to pursue theater, but a growing passion for hands-on laboratory work led her to chemistry—and ultimately to a career as an analytical chemist in the cosmetic and personal care industry. Today, she helps ensure the safety and quality of products used by consumers every day.

Aurianna credits her Capital experience, faculty mentorship, and extensive lab opportunities with helping her build the confidence and skills needed to succeed. Her story is a reminder that exploration, curiosity, and perseverance can lead to unexpected opportunities.

As Ecuador's national team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, they chose Columbus as their U.S. home base and Capital University's Women's Soccer Head Coach Matt Ogden is helping make it happen.

When Ecuador needed high-level training support ahead of the world's biggest sporting event, Coach Ogden and players from Kings Hammer FC Columbus stepped onto the pitch, training with a squad that includes some of the world's top talent.

For Coach Ogden, this is more than a remarkable opportunity, it's a reflection of the excellence, leadership, and impact he brings to the game every day. From leading Capital's women's soccer program to helping a World Cup team prepare for the biggest stage in sports, Coach Ogden continues to represent Capital with distinction.

Columbus Business First recently highlighted Capital University's enrollment growth and future-focused vision. This fall, Capital enrolled 550 new undergraduate students, up from 440 the previous year.

As we celebrate National Higher Education Day, Capital University also celebrates 196 years of transforming lives, preparing students to be thoughtful, ethical and courageous leaders who will make a difference wherever life takes them.

Yesterday, President Tice represented Capital University as a panelist at the 9th Annual Collaborative Conference hosted by the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Ohio.

Joining fellow presidents from Wilmington College and Cleveland Institute of Art, President Tice participated in a discussion focused on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping higher education.

The discussion underscored the important role independent institutions play in advancing higher education and demonstrated Capital’s ongoing leadership in addressing the evolving needs of today’s students and tomorrow’s workforce.
