One of the most exciting moments at the 2026 Ohio STEM Innovation Summit was the reveal of the 2026โ2027 Design Challenge! ๐
This yearโs challenge, developed in partnership with the Ohio Manufacturersโ Association and supported by DriveOhio and the NSF HAMMER Engineering Research Center, invites students and educators to explore bold new ideas in manufacturing and innovation.
The 2026โ2027 Design Challenge Question:
How can we change or improve how we make things so we can build materials, parts, and products in new places or environments?
In other words, how can we think of new ways to make things in unusual or surprising places?
We canโt wait to see how schools across Ohio bring this challenge to life through creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem solving. The possibilities are endless, and the future of innovation starts here.

One of the most energizing parts of the 2026 Ohio STEM Innovation Summit? Our Learning Hops! โก
These fast-paced, 15-minute sessions gave participants the chance to explore new ideas, strategies, and tools in quick, focused bursts of learning. From innovative classroom practices to creative approaches for engagement, each hop offered something actionable and inspiring.
Learning Hops are a great reminder that even a short amount of time can spark big ideas and meaningful connections. We loved seeing educators jump in, share, and take new thinking back to their schools and classrooms.
