Make Play Eat Repeat

Tonight, we got to visit one of my ceramic pieces at the Cox Fine Arts Center! It was selected to be a part of the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, which is one of our favorite things to see at the fair each year.

This piece is called Obvara Catalpa, and was made from catalpa leaves from my favorite tree in our yard, and raku fired in an obvara yeast mixture at (with expert help from Glenn - .pottery ).

It was amazing to see it sitting amongst so many incredible artists’ work, including several we’ve known since our days, and folks from ! It’s a beautiful show, and I’m so excited to be a part of it!

Iconic. It’s the can’t-miss event of the year, and we can’t wait! Top of our list - the alpacas (they have the same hairstyle as our oldest), the quilt show (I stand in awe of the immense patience they took), and seeing the baked goods (and what new recipe has cooked up)!

Feature wall DONE! I have been thinking about doing this for years, and very poorly explaining my vision to people in the meantime. 🤣 This was easy in technical ex*****on, but had a lot of steps that took longer than expected.

But it’s DONE and I love it.

And if I never paint another slat again, it will be too soon. 😩

I’m obsessed with simple, efficient solutions! And, once I get an idea in my head, I’m going to have to at least see if it would work…

I love a good mid-mod table, and needed a smart solution to hide our TV cables and boxes that wouldn’t take up too much space. I also had a lot of scrap birch plywood leftover from other projects that could be put to good use.

This little side table is functional, smart, and adds a great warm look to the living room. It’s very satisfying to complete a project that checks all the boxes.

Guess whose birthday it is?! The one, the only, 🙌🏻 The boys and I are so lucky to get to spend every day with him. 💙 If you see him today, in-person or virtually, tell him one thing you love about him. I can’t possibly narrow it down, and need your help. 😘

It’s not a huge change, but it makes me smile every time I see these steps! And how satisfying is it to use a material in a brand new way?

I’m going to enjoy checking this off the list, and just may have to do the downstairs steps too…

This is up there with one of my favorite projects - and it doesn’t get much better than designing a room to reflect one of your kids…especially when he is one awesome teenager.

I picked up a lot of new skills in this build, including learning what a “rabbet” is, installing a full chair rail, and using peel-and-stick wallpaper. I’m happy to say that I’d do it all again!
