Rootabaga plays Americana music grounded in jazz and swing from the 1920s to the present.
I had never heard of this amazing musician, NOR, that the fiddle or A BIKE TIRE PUMP could be played this way.
Rootabaga loves the swing feel that underlies all this music. We do a "backporch swingin' Americana" and love it when people dance! So nice! Come hear us play! Global Gallery on April 17 (6:30 pm), and Eldorado's Food & Spirits May 8 (6-8 pm)!

We’re kicking off our Friday Night Music Series on April 17 with a fundraiser at Global Gallery and you won’t want to miss it!
This special night helps fund our Friday musicians all year long, keeping live, local music accessible and artist-focused. Enjoy performances by .harnetty and , plus delicious eats from .beepbeep. Food Truck to keep you fueled throughout the evening.
We’ll also host a silent auction featuring gift cards and items generously donated by local businesses. Every bid directly supports the musicians who make this series possible.
The night marks our very first Clintonville Jamboree with art vendors lining the block, a tap takeover from , drink specials benefiting the music series, and plenty to explore along the mile walk between Global Gallery and Combustion.
And the excitement continues all month long: throughout April, our Art Wall will feature a month-long silent auction showcasing original works by local artists, with accessible starting bids so everyone can participate.
It’s more than a show! It’s a full evening of art, music, food, and community collaboration. Bring your friends, come ready to bid, and help us launch our strongest season yet!

I listened to it all. I powerful story of a person’s life (with struggles), and, an illuminating commentary on how music feeds musicians. My band, Rootabaga, is one of the current “flowers” on the tree of roots/bluegrass/jazz music that Billy speaks so eloquently about. We play next at Eldorado’s Bar, Feb 20, 2026, 6-8 pm. I first heard this musician on a Martin, Bogen and Armstrong Album in the late 1970s. I think Rootabaga Band owes its “roots” to the sound I heard in that music way back then.
