I am often asked “How long can a cat survive in a tree”? The answer :“It depends on a lot of factors” –The cat’s health, weather conditions -extreme heat/cold are bad, rainfall is good. and I think the tenacity of the cat also plays a role in this fight for survival.
This cat named Loki spent 18 days in the tip top of this spruce tree. Early on, climbers tried to reach him but were unable. It was sketchy up there but there are precautions that can keep a possible breakout from equaling a fall to the ground.

Loki was tenacious for survival but frightened into freeze mode. Cats can be super resilient creatures when they are in peak health and Loki is a testament to that.

An update on Dave’s cats
We are nearly halfway with the spay/neuter process -all 4 of the females have been spayed, vaccinated and vetted. The 5 males will be treated in the coming weeks.
Dave has new litter boxes, a litter and food subscription, and electric bills are being covered, Thanks to the outpouring of support from all who donated, and to CDC for helping with this endeavor to bring relief to Dave and his family.

Mickey almost got me today. While rescuing another cat from a tree, I met Mickey -this sweet little black kitten with some strange skeletal condition. A precious little girl that almost had me taking her home.

Suki made questionable life decisions, and found herself sappy and unhappy in a white pine tree.
