Even though the Gregorian calendar teaches us that summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st, it certainly feels as if the summer has arrived. Graduations have been celebrated, summer camps have commenced and last week we heralded in Pride and Summer Celebration Shabbat. The glorious dry sunshine and warmth keep trading days with scattered rain showers and humidity. Summer is certainly here. Especially because Shabbat and weekend plans well underway include picnics and hikes coupled with arts and music festivals.
The good news is that we don’t need to wait for a festival to hear inspirational live music. In fact, A Tribe for Jazz presents the GTO Trio, a New York-based Israeli contemporary jazz ensemble that has been turning heads around the world — and now they are bringing their sound to Columbus on Thursday evening, June 18th at the Columbus Museum of Art.
Known for a deep, intuitive musical chemistry, the trio features Gadi Lehavi on piano, Tal Mashiach on bass, and Ofri Nehemya on drums. They have collaborated with jazz legends like Chick Corea and Ravi Coltrane, and their debut album Within has made them rising stars in the jazz world. Come experience something extraordinary, and support Temple Israel’s collaboration with this phenomenal organization. And I will be there to introduce the band. Can’t wait to see you there!

And remember when one of those gloomy summer days arrive, listen to this uplifting GTO song, reminding us that somewhere the sun is shining: https://youtu.be/_L6clipoXmU?si=26u6Cb4d-YZkSt3q
