Welcome Audrey Schoemer, our 2025 Summer Intern! She will be working with Basil Insurance Group as our summer Intern!

It was my turn to take a quick break from helping new family’s with their insurance needs to spend time with Rennie and the three Little Jags classes at Wellington to teach the game of softball! The weather held long enough for us to learn about the game, play a little catch and have fun hitting off the tee! Thank you to Wellington and the 6 Little Jags teachers for allowing me to share a special part of my story with your kids!

Excited to finally share a big secret we have been keeping! Extremely honored to be featured in THE Ohio State University Alumni Magazine!

A place that has given so much to me. Over the last several months, we have worked with some incredibly talented journalists and photographers to help share the big impact the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute has on student-athletes. So blessed to give back and be a small part of something so much greater.

BIG shoutout to our 2024 summer intern Annie, who came back in to join in the photoshoot fun! If you don’t remember, Annie is a stud lacrosse player and a Golden Bear Alumni!

Melissa Basil - agent/owner of Basil Insurance Group

I am a 2015 graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Business Administration degree and Risk Management & Insurance specialization. Yes, I LOVE insurance so much that I studied it! I was fortunate enough to be a 4-year student-athlete of the Softball program.

I grew up in Wellington, a small town in northeastern Ohio and now live in Upper Arlington with my husband of 8.5 years, Drew, who is a local realtor and my biggest cheerleader! We have been blessed with two children, Rennie (3.5) and Axx (almost 2)!

I am thankful every day for the opportunity to educate and protect individuals, families and businesses. I cannot put into words my appreciation for every individual who has supported making this longtime dream a reality. In a market that is changing rapidly, I am looking forward to continuing to be your trusted professional!
