Covert Ensemble
Covert Ensemble is what happens when musical obsession meets international frequent flyer status. Two saxophonists. One epic story. Zero shame. Buckle up.

🚀 BREAKING: Covert Ensemble announces its 2048 LUNAR TOUR 🌕
Because honestly… Earth acoustics were getting a bit predictable.
Exclusive audience experiences:
– Orbit-side seating with panoramic Earth view
– “Hold your instrument or it floats away” masterclass
– Intermission spacewalks
– Re-entry adrenaline rush (stronger than any stage fright)
⸻
🎶 PROGRAM – Out of this world edition:
• Moonlight Sonata – Ludwig van Beethoven (obviously)
• Fly Me to the Moon – Frank Sinatra edition (but with more reverb… space does that)
• Space Oddity – David Bowie
• Clair de Lune – Claude Debussy (extra clair in vacuum)
• Across the Universe – The Beatles
• Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity – Gustav Holst (we overshot a bit)
• Interstellar Main Theme – Hans Zimmer
• “No Gravity Groove” (world premiere, written mid-orbit)
• “Apogee Tango” (because Piazzolla would approve)
⸻
🛰️ Special thanks to Artemis II for:
– proving humans can travel that fast and still tune
– inspiring our “re-entry crescendo”
– confirming that hair styling is impossible in zero gravity

Today we are proud to announce a new collaboration with celebrity composer Chris Evan Hass, Composer: The Perfect Storm 2.
No further questions at this time.
“Taken By Storm” 🌩🎷🎷
Chris Evan Hass, calls it a bombastic barnburner, and he’s not wrong. Originally the second movement of The Perfect Storm, this is where everything breaks loose.
Relentless rhythms. Blazing arpeggios. A heavy-metal edge. This is the storm at full power. Full chaos lives on YouTube ⚡

Cultural differences… same take, different drama.

Our recent visit to Spokane gave us the chance to continue one of our favorite tour traditions: being in a studio to record music from our current program.
These sessions are equal parts precision, patience, and hard work. They also capture something special: the sound of the music as it has evolved in real time throughout the tour. Our thanks again to our host Dr. David Larsen to whom we are very grateful!
Our first "Spokane" release will be very soon...
We’re honored to be named National Finalists for The American Prize (Chamber Music Performance, 2026) 🇺🇸 for our recording with Tingting Yao of The Perfect Storm by Chris Evan Hass 🌩🎷🎷🎹
We brought the storm.⛈️Now we wait for the thunder.
Here’s hoping it hits one more time later this year 🤞

Gate D12 was expecting a boarding announcement.
Instead it got a saxophone recital. ✈️🎷🎹
When the score says “storm,” you commit. Here's a clip of Chris Evan Hass' Taken By Storm from our recent NASA conference performance. Full recording here: https://youtu.be/71T9JMCn7kk

Hundreds of saxophonists. Old friends, new friends, and inspiration everywhere.
Also: the loudest exhibit room in North America.
Proof that if you gather enough saxophonists together, chaos and inspiration arrive at the same time. We very much enjoyed the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) 2026 biennial conference.
