New Law Supports Mothers, Babies
Working to ensure women and families have access to safe, high-quality care throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery, I recently supported legislation that will modernize state laws governing midwives.
Act 14 of 2026 updates licensure requirements for certified midwives, improves collaboration with physicians and expands prescription authority in certain circumstances. The law also addresses healthcare shortages in rural and underserved communities by expanding the number of trained professionals available to provide maternal care services.
Licensed midwives are an integral part of our healthcare provider workforce, as they care for individuals during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and the first 28 days of a newborn’s life. They help identify high-risk pregnancies; monitor women and support them during labor and the birthing process; and teach new and expectant mothers how to care for their babies.

The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors held its annual meeting in Harrisburg this week, bringing together realtors from across the state to discuss the issues and trends shaping the real estate industry. I enjoyed some insightful discussions at the meeting on topics from interest rates and insurance to affordable housing availability, real help for first-time home buyers, and legislation affecting certification and transactions.
It was great to connect with several Lancaster County realtors; these dedicated professionals work to make a tangible difference for the families and individuals navigating one of life's biggest decisions.

105 years old! I was pleased to present a House citation to Evelyn Mae Brubaker, who was celebrating her 105th birthday. In sitting down to talk with her, I was struck by many things; among them were her remarkable spryness, her sense of humor, and her deep humility. One other aspect of her life that came through loud and clear, is that Evelyn is a woman dearly loved and respected by her family, many of whom surrounded her to join in the celebration of her birthday. It was a genuine pleasure to speak with her and hear her life story. Now enjoying retirement in East Hempfield Township, Evelyn is the proud mother of three children and also has been blessed with seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Happy 105th Birthday, Evelyn!

"They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate." - From President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s official address announcing the invasion
In the pre-dawn hours of June 6, 1944, American and Allied forces stormed a 50-mile stretch of beach in Normandy, France, launching the largest amphibious invasion in history. Operation Overlord was a feat of extraordinary planning and scale: 13,000 aircraft and gliders, 23,400 paratroopers, 5,000 ships and landing craft, and roughly 160,000 American, British, and Canadian troops converged on a single objective.
By nightfall, through valor and sheer determination, Allied soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and merchant mariners had secured beachheads on all five landing beaches: Omaha, Utah, Sword, Gold, and Juno. It came at an enormous cost. More than 9,000 Allied service members were killed or wounded that day, their lives given so that freedom might once again prevail across the European continent.
The victory was decisive, turning the tide of World War II and changing the course of history.

For my final BizTown visit of the school year, I joined with the 6th grade students from Columbia Middle School.
BizTown is a simulated town with a city hall, medical center, TV station, bank, and many other businesses that students get to run for the day.
Students complete educational lessons before BizTown, then apply their classroom knowledge through hands-on practice. They all did a tremendous job in their assigned roles! Sponsored by Junior Achievement of South Central PA, the program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
In recognition of PA Native Species Day this week, I gathered some leftover pin oaks that were donated at the Capitol and want to make them available to any resident of the 41st Legislative District who will plant them. Five are available - first come, first served. Details in the video... please call my office at 717-295-5050 if you’re interested.
