What a fun morning at our Girls Golf Scavenger Hunt! From the “quack of dawn” start to solving all five clues across the Back Nine at Fairway Hills, our lucky ducks were on the move all morning long. 🐥⛳️

Families and friends teamed up to crack riddles, explore the course, and get in plenty of steps along the way. Congratulations to everyone who completed the hunt — and especially to our fastest finishers who didn’t “quack” under pressure!

We're proud to announce that not one but TWO of our chapter's participants have been selected for the First Tee Game Changers Academy this July in Minneapolis, Minnesota, out of a national pool of applicants! Congratulations to Noelle C. and Dhilan P.!⭐⛳💚

First Tee Game Changers Academy is a transformative five-day learning and empowerment experience. Selected teens from across the U.S. will engage in meaningful discussions on self-awareness, inclusive leadership, and community building – skills they will carry with them throughout their lives. First Tee invites its partners to lead dynamic, interactive workshops, complemented by reflective activities guided by our nationally trained First Tee coaches.
This experience is designed to enlighten, inspire, and empower teens, preparing them to become Game Changers in their communities now and in the future. The academy is named in honor of former First Tee CEO Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., a passionate advocate for empowering the next generation.

Registration is also open for our Summer Fun Academy, a new weekly program for 7-11 year olds that meets from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays the weeks of July 13, July 20, and July 27.

From Kona Ice and grilling to practicing golf skills and making new friends, our Spring Kickoff was a wonderful opportunity for First Tee families to connect and celebrate the start of the spring session! ⛳️🍧🌭

First Tee–Howard County hosted 40 upperclassmen from PE elective courses at Oakland Mills High School on April 9. Students received instruction during PE class prior to coming to Fairway Hills, and were able to drive, chip, and putt by rotating through four stations. Students displayed great sportsmanship and went home with a t-shirt, some swag, and lots of snacks!

Special thanks to PE teachers Dr. Laura Foerster Puglisi and James Speake for organizing, and First Tee coaches Sharon Kavanaugh, Darren Caleb, and Tom Imbach for volunteering their time and enthusiasm in this community outreach event.

⛳️ Champions Challenge at Fairway Hills!

On April 8, 40 fourth grade students—along with their P.E. teachers—from Hanover Hills, Ilchester, Jeffers Hill, and Triadelphia elementary schools took part in our annual Champions Challenge, where they had the chance to put the golf skills they’ve been learning in P.E. into practice on a real golf course.

Through putting, chipping, and driving, our new-to-golf participants modeled incredible sportsmanship. Each student left with a ribbon, t-shirt, snacks, and a newfound appreciation for the game.

With support from First Tee–Howard County, 40 elementary schools in the Howard County Public School System have golf equipment available during Physical Education classes—helping introduce even more young players to the sport! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

A special shoutout to Jeffers Hill, who has participated in all 9 years we’ve hosted this event! 👏

We're thrilled to announce the Summer Fun Academy, a new program for children ages 7–11, taking place in three week-long sessions this July at Fairway Hills.
