I spent part of my morning walking through an estate sale two miles from my house, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.

The artist was Norb Skalski Spring Hill, TN. Incredibly talented. And there I was, along with strangers, digging through the remnants of his life and his life’s work.

It’s a strange, heavy feeling. Beautiful paintings stacked against walls. Brushes. Studies. Paintings of his dog throughout his home. All the evidence of a creative life, now being sorted and carried away piece by piece.

It made me think about what we leave behind. As artists, our work outlives us and there’s something both comforting and heartbreaking about that.

I brought a few of his pieces home. They’ll be loved. But there’s still more there if you’re in the Spring Hill area. Go give his work a good home.

Last night was exactly what art is supposed to feel like. 🎨🥂

The Opening Reception for the Columbia Arts Council Exhibition was so much fun. I met so many new people, reconnected with familiar faces, and honestly just felt the energy of a community that genuinely shows up for each other. These artists know each other, support each other, and have been building something real here in Columbia for a while now. That’s not something every community has, and it’s worth celebrating.

Columbia is growing its arts scene in a real way, and nights like last night are proof of that.

The show runs through June 12 free, open to the public, and absolutely worth a visit. 52 local artists, one great building, zero excuses not to go. 😄

First time in a long time I haven’t taken a week off with the family for spring break. I didn’t realize how much that time energized me so today I’m escaping to the Frist to see the In Her Place exhibit. This is based on local women artist and runs through the end of April.

While I’m out looking for inspiration, here’s my final Punch the monkey painting and art prints. Prints are available now in my Etsy shop.

Thank you for following and encouraging me.

Corporate jobs are not for the weak.

Neither are the hobbies we use to survive them.

Cheers to weekend art therapy for everyone holding it together with duct tape and caffeine.

Almost done with my acrylic painting of the Walk for Peace!

If you know, you know.

Some days it feels surreal. Waking up worried about a PowerPoint while the world outside is just chaos. This week’s news has been heavy, with the death of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. It’s been a rough one. My heart breaks with the families, with you, with everyone just trying to make sense of it all. We’re struggling together. 💔
