No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Joshua 1:5

Life is filled with new beginnings. We go off to school for the first time, we get a new job, we go off to college, we move to a new city, each day we wake up is a new beginning. Every new beginning is a step of faith because they require us to move forward even though we have no guarantee how it will turn out. We don’t know whether we will encounter good or evil, but according to God’s Word no matter what we experience He promises to be with us!

When Moses handed over the leadership reigns of Israel to Joshua it was big deal. As this new beginning for Joshua came to be, God made him a promise “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.

God makes the same promise to you. Whatever your new beginning is today … God is with you.

Holy Father protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11

When I was a young boy, one of my uncles played a trick on me. We were flipping a coin to see who would get to keep it. He said, “heads I win, tails you lose.” I had never seen or heard that trick before and I fell for it. When he explained why he was the winner I was furious. In most of our negotiations in life we are usually trying to manipulate a “win-win” for the result.

When Jesus prayed this prayer, He was praying that all His followers would experience a win-win. He asked the Father to protect His disciples from the world and that they might “be one as We are one.” When God’s church is unified it results in peace, harmony, love and fellowship which is a win for all. Another result is that as the world sees the church demonstrate unity in love, is it would cause them to see the Savior who came to save the world. The result is a win-win, for the Church and the world. Do all you can to be part of God’s answer to Jesus’ prayer. Do all you can to strengthen unity in the Body of Christ.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

My oldest daughter is in her mid twenties. She like most young people would be totally lost without the GPS located in her vehicle or on her phone. My early years of driving included carrying a map in my car to assist me on trips or occasionally stopping and asking for directions. Honestly, I like our modern GPS better than the old way.😊

The Bible is the Christians GPS. It provides guidance for us as we journey through this life. Trying to navigate through life with no direction, and without moral or spiritual boundaries to help us stay on the right path would be impossible without God’s Word. Our verse calls God’s Word a “lamp” and a “light” for guiding our path. A lamp which would have been available to the writer of this Psalm, would have only illuminated his path a few feet ahead of him. The Scriptures are available to us to help us with our daily walk with the Lord. They reveal the steps we need to take each day and makes our path clearer as we walk by faith.

Make studying and obeying God’s Word part of your daily and you will find the guidance and direction you need…Pastor Freddy

From Max Lucado:

This much is sure: God will teach you to pray. Don’t think for a minute that he’s glaring at you from a distance with crossed arms and a scowl, waiting for you to get your prayer life together. Just the opposite! In Revelation 3:20 Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with Me.”

Jesus waits on the porch. He taps…and calls. He waits for you to open the door. To pray is the hand of faith on the door handle of your heart. The happy welcome to Jesus: “Come in, O King. Come in. The kitchen is messy, but come in. I’m not much of a conversationalist, but come in.”

Before amen—comes the power of a simple prayer! God changes His people through such moments.

Have a great weekend...Pastor Freddy

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9

Many people, including some of you, are organ donors. Every once in a while, I read a story about a person who has donated their heart, eyes, etc. to help someone extend their life or improve their quality of life. Many people are willing to give up one of their bodily organs to help someone in need. However, the Apostle Paul asked a much deeper question, who would you be willing to die for?

In Romans 5 Paul pointed out that it would be pretty rare for most of us to give our life for someone who was righteous and good, much less for someone who was guilty of all kinds of sin and evil. Yet, that is exactly what Jesus did in Romans 5:8. Jesus did for us what no one else would do, He died for sinners. Our verse today reminds us that God loved us so much that He was willing to let His one and only son die in our place.

Let how Jesus demonstrated His love for you motivate you to show His love to others today! Pastor Freddy

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

Nineteenth-century artist William Hunt painted The Light of the World, a well-known work of Christian art based on Revelation 3:20, our verse for today. The painting shows Jesus standing at the door of a house that appears long unused. He is knocking with one hand and holding a lantern in the other. One important detail is easy to miss: the door has no handle on the outside. It can only be opened from within, meaning only the person inside can let Him in.

Jesus rebuked the church in Laodicea for being lukewarm and for losing its passion for the things of God (verses 15–17). This verse pictures Him standing at the door of the church, knocking and waiting to be welcomed into fellowship. He does not force His way in; He waits for an invitation.

One thing I do almost every day is to remember May 11, 1978, when Jesus came into a bar and saved my soul. To keep your passion for Christ strong, welcome Him into your heart throughout the day and remain in close fellowship with Him.

Have a great day…Pastor Freddy

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
1 Corinthians 6:19

You have probably heard stories like the foolish man who was trying to push his car even though it was full of gas and capable of running on its own. Or maybe about the woman who was trying to iron her clothes with an iron that wasn’t plugged into the electrical outlet. Or maybe the young boy walking in the dark with a flashlight that he never bothered to turn on.

The point is these people had power available to them but didn’t take advantage of it. The same can be said of many Christians who try living the Christian life in their own strength and efforts. When Jesus left his physical earthly life, He left behind for us the indwelling Holy Spirit who provides all the power we need to accomplish God’s will for our lives.

Walking in the Holy Spirit allows us to become more like Christ as we submit more and more to His controlling power and become more like Him. This understanding helps us to see our difficulties from a different perspective. Satan seeks to harm us, but God uses these difficulties to shape us into being more like Him.
How special is it that we have a Heavenly Father who wants us to be “chips off the old block” and be more like Him.

Take a moment and thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit in your life!

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Many of you like me grew up in a world where everything related to rewards or success was attached to our works. In high school I had a cousin (Jackie) who went to a different county school. In a strange kind of way, we were good friends, but we competed at everything. Football, basketball, tennis, track, softball/baseball (he didn’t play much of these sports), working in the hay fields…even what girls to date or not! We were always trying to outdo the other for what we perceived to be the “prize”.

Almost every reward or compensation in the secular world is built on the foundation of works. Promotions, grades, sales numbers, sports, etc. all teach us that more leads to rewards. Even all the world religions (except Christianity) are connected to a works-based theology.

The word grace is not a word you will find in the Old Testament very much (approximately 18 times), but it is a major theme throughout the New Testament (over a 100 times). Just as it is difficult today for people to except that Jesus has already done the work for your salvation instead them having to do something to earn it, it was a confusing concept for the Jews and Gentiles of the Apostle Paul’s day to embrace as well. He taught that we are not saved by our works, but by God’s grace alone.

What a relief, because we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). If our salvation were based on our works, none of us could be saved? Thank you, Jesus, for doing what we can’t do…save ourselves!

Have a great day…Pastor Freddy
