Always Forward
Meet, Vince Schiano, a dynamic and adventurous individual with a heart of gold.
Vince has always had a thirst for excitement and a desire to push the limits, which is evident in his unforgettable experience running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. But Vince is not just a thrill seeker; he is also a selfless and compassionate human being, exemplified by his decision to donate a portion of his liver to his coworker’s daughter in need. In Vince’s memoir, titled Always Forward,

Here is a great article in honor of organ donation month! I have had a wonderful relationship with this publication since being voted in their Best and Brightest 35 under 35 back in 2019. While I don’t qualify for that designation anymore, (thanks Father Time), it is amazing to see the relationship continue to blossom on the success of Always Forward and organ donation awareness!

I made a lot of assumptions about which parts of Always Forward would resonate with different types of people.
I get more comments on Chapter 14 than any other chapter. Men, women, and regardless of age. It seems people are a sucker for a sappy proposal.
Obviously it was one of the best days of my life, but it is extra special that it has been so well received in the book!

An Economist and author – David Birch – first developed the notion of gazelle companies in a few of his studies on employment and introduced this concept to the audience in 1987 through his book – Job Creation in America: How Our Smallest Companies Put the Most People to Work.
As per the theory of Birch, small companies tend to create more jobs in the Economy. He noted that the pace of creating jobs by the gazelle companies was more than that of the names listed in the Fortune 500 and Main Street.
However, this pace eventually slowed down as most of the gazelle companies struggled to maintain their growth beyond the period of five years. Thus, in the landscape of recent businesses, a gazelle is any fast-growing company.
What still holds true is that these companies are the most job creators for entrepreneurial and open economies. While there is a variety of gazelle companies that operate in the technology sector; some also are from apparel, retail, beverage, and other growing industries.
Does this describe your company? Would you like it too?
Most Gazelles are 25-year-old companies in the small business or middle-market space! Not a tech unicorn start-up.
Let's setup up your Key Performance Indicators today and build a plan for 20% growth.

What are you reading? Are you like me and you read multiple books at one time? This is what is on my desk right now.
I learned a few years ago that I do three things better at once than one thing at a time. Now this isn’t always true…..ahem….texting and driving….ahem, but in business it has always been the case.
It might not seem like a book on influence, another on leadership, and another on buying businesses would be best to intermingle in one reading session, and you are right about that.
I read for an hour or so most mornings after the gym and the truth is I like to have options. No matter what book I pick up it’s a win, and to be honest one of the three is usually a reread.
I have a book shelf full of good resources and it never hurts to revisit any of these concepts.
Walker Deibel - Buy Then Build has been an amazing read, and I am going back through the book because I have found myself consulting with business owners about inorganic growth, and these strategies are just too strong to ignore, especially in the $1mm to $5mm revenue space.
What are you reading? I would love to know.
And of course if you want to read a great true story about a search for a more purposeful existence check out Always Forward!

Very excited to be featured here! Thank you so much!
Always Forward Are you living your life the way everyone around you thinks you should, instead of how you want to live it? Do you constantly hanker for something more? A purpose? A direction? The feeling that you can accomplish anything you want to in this world? Joseph Campbell said it best. "We must be w...

I used to stress constantly about my position in life. I would focus on things that I had very little control over. I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but it seems like a lot of people I meet feel the same way.
My life changed when I stopped worrying so much about the outcome and started to just focus on what I could control. I reverted to goal setting and tried to enjoy the process.
My goals are simple now.
I want to connect with as many people as possible to have as big an impact as possible.
Don't focus so much on Income or Status. Worry more about Impact and Relationships. The intersection of Impact and Income is inevitable if you are committed and disciplined in your approach.
Enjoy the Ride. Always Forward

I bumped into a friend yesterday, who I deeply admire. I have had a front row seat watching him grow and chase his dreams.
He is an extremely talented photographer and continues to have success in his field. As I have published Always Forward, he has been a huge supporter, and I try to advocate for his work whenever I see an opportunity.
It is so interesting to see the similarities for each of us despite pursuing different goals. In a lot of ways the growth is the same.
It is uncomfortable, and the path is never what you think it is going to be. The people you think will advocate for you might not, but others will surprise you with their support and engagement.
I try and remember the English proverb “Rising tide lifts all boats”
I appreciate all the wonderful opportunities I have found in 2023 and I am equally grateful to be able to continue to pull those up around me.
Thanks for the conversation yesterday .hodgeproductions

Purpose is a funny thing. You see it discussed a lot in the “thought leadership” space, but what does it mean for business?
It is extremely difficult to quantify, and as a result very difficult to assign prioritization value.
I learned that it is a lot like oxygen. You can survive on very little, and you can even condition yourself to get used to a low supply, but eventually you will reach a breaking point and suffocate.
I reached a point where I was starving for purpose. In this chapter I talk about a chance to take a breath for the first time in years.
I hope you enjoy

Business and Risk.
These two words have always been synonymous with each other. Running a business is not the usual 9 to 5 office work with a steady paycheck.
For those entrepreneurs out there. If you are lucky, one day you will find a service or a product that you are able to provide in a competitive market. You will invest more time in keeping your business above water.
It is easy to find yourself entangled in the parts of your business you aren't passionate about. It has happened to all of us at some point. We must adapt, learn, hire, scale, and pivot.
Technology can be your best friend through this process or it can be the weapon your competition uses to grab market share.
How do you assess risk? How do you incorporate technology? Is it part of a perpetual routine?
It better be.
