A timeless story of love, ambition, and finding your place.

Maplewood Barn Theatre is excited to welcome you to our 53rd season: Hollywood Meets Broadway. Our second production of the season, Little Women, is a classic story by Louisa May Alcott, adapted by Kate Hamill.

Directed by Jamie Yelton, performances will be June 18-21 and 25-28. Jo March isn’t your typical Victorian lady. She’s indecorous and headstrong, and one day she’s going to be a great American novelist. As she and her sisters grow up in the middle of the Civil War, they strive to be brave, intelligent and imaginative young women. But as adulthood approaches, each sister must negotiate her private ambitions with society’s expectations. In a wartorn world defined by gender, class and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women.

In classic Kate Hamill fashion, a literary masterpiece is updated and refreshed for the modern age, with focus given to the strong, seldom well-behaved women who make history. Bursting with humor and emotional intelligence, this Little Women speaks across centuries and generations.

The box office opens at 7 pm, and the show begins at 8 pm. There will also be concessions available for purchase at the box office through intermission of the show. Remember to pack a chair, your favorite blanket, and join us at the Barn for a night of theatre under the stars!
