Aurora STEAM Lab has been named the #1 Education Center in Columbia, MD for February 2026 and I’m truly proud to celebrate this milestone. From the beginning, my goal wasn’t just to open a center. It was to build a space where kids feel supported, curious, capable, and excited to learn. A space designed with intention, creativity, and heart where hands‑on learning feels joyful and meaningful. This award reflects that vision in action. It reflects the students who show up ready to explore. It reflects the families who see the difference in our approach. And it reflects the commitment it takes to build something from the ground up, even when the journey hasn’t always been simple or fully supported. What makes this moment meaningful is knowing that the work happening inside our walls is resonating that our approach to STEAM education is making an impact right here in Columbia.
I’m grateful for the families who choose us, the students who bring their curiosity every day, and the team that shows up with purpose and heart.

I heard that today during engineering, right as we pulled out the drill.
Honestly? I love that question.
Because it means our kids are thinking.
It means they’re assessing risk.
It means they’re learning how to do big things the right way. At Aurora STEAM Lab, we don’t shy away from real tools. We teach kids how to use them safely, confidently, and with respect. Because empowerment doesn’t come from avoiding challenges, it comes from learning how to navigate them.Watching a young engineer pick up a drill with steady hands, clear instructions, and a spark of “I can do this” in their eyes… that’s the magic. That’s the moment they level up.Big tools. Big learning. Big confidence. And yes, we keep it safe, supervised, and full of joy every step of the way!

HCPSS has announced a three‑hour early dismissal due to the incoming inclement weather. This is considered an unscheduled half day due to weather‑related conditions. In alignment with the county, Aurora STEAM Lab will be closed tomorrow afternoon.

Here’s what families need to know:

🌅 Morning Programs
✔️ All morning programs will run as scheduled and on time.

🏫 Out‑Center Programs
❌ All out‑center programs are canceled for 3/16/26.

🎒 In‑Center Afterschool Programs
❌ All in‑center afterschool programs are canceled due to the early dismissal and expected severe weather.
🚐 We will not be providing transportation for in‑center programs tomorrow.

Please make sure your child knows their dismissal plan for tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students, families, and staff.
