Join All Good Books on Monday, June 22 at 6pm for an evening with former Congressman Joe Cunningham as he discusses his new book, ‘Life of the Party: How Democrats Lost America’s Trust—and How They Can Win It Back’.
In this candid and personal account, Cunningham reflects on the challenges facing the Democratic Party and explores the political, cultural, and economic forces that have shaped recent elections. Drawing on his experience as a Southern Democrat who won a congressional seat in South Carolina, he offers an insider’s perspective on party messaging, voter engagement, and the future of American politics.
Blending political analysis with stories from the campaign trail and his time in Congress, Life of the Party examines how political parties connect with voters and what it takes to build trust in a rapidly changing political landscape.
Joining Cunningham in conversation is Dick Harpootlian, a distinguished attorney, public servant, and political leader known for his work in law and public policy. As Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, he helped orchestrate a series of historic election victories, including the unseating of an incumbent governor for the first time in state history. His expertise has made him a frequent guest on national programs such as 60 Minutes and NBC Nightly News, and he is regularly quoted by major publications including TIME and The New York Times. Harpootlian is also the author of Dig Me a Grave, a gripping and true “Southern Gothic” account of the life, crimes, conviction, and ex*****on of the charismatic, brutal, well-liked, remorseless South Carolina serial killer, P*e Wee Gaskins.
Together, Cunningham and Harpootlian will discuss the ideas at the heart of Life of the Party, the challenges facing the Democratic Party today, and the future of American Politics. A Q&A and book signing will follow.

Anne Frank was just one of the 1.5 million Jewish children who perished during the Holocaust. Had she survived, she would have celebrated her 97th birthday on June 12.
This June 12, the Anne Frank Center at USC will host a special drop- in activity for children and families of all ages at All Good Books to remember Anne and honor the lives and memories of the countless children lost during the Holocaust.
This free community activity will give young participants the opportunity to paint a ceramic butterfly as a symbol of remembrance, hope, and resilience. We hope you will join us in reflecting on Anne’s legacy and helping ensure that the stories of these children are never forgotten.
