Clear Tent receptions just feel different after sunset.

Does every backyard wedding need a tent?

Not necessarily.

Before deciding between a tented or open-air reception, we look at three things:

• The property — its layout, architecture, views, and how guests will move through the space
• The weather — heat, wind, rain, and how much protection the event may require
• The overall aesthetic — whether the design benefits from added structure or from keeping the backyard open

For this wedding, we kept the reception open-air and created the structure through trusses, chandeliers, intentional lighting, and a white dance floor.

The backyard remained part of the experience instead of something we needed to cover.

The goal isn’t to start with a tent.
It’s to start with the property and design from there.

The best event designs don’t start with rentals.

They start with understanding the space.

For this reception at The Grove of Redlands, the goal was to create a defined gathering space while preserving the openness and natural beauty of the venue. The result was a layout that felt intimate for guests while still showcasing the property from every angle.

Every element you see had a purpose - from a custom built red carpet bridge designed to open the entire space, to layered lighting that transformed the backyard into a full reception under the stars.
