It’s been an awesome 👏 2 weeks working with Katrien who came to work with us from 🇧🇪 Belgium. She came to see us with lingering post concussion dizziness, dysautonomia, vertigo, headaches, imbalance and fatigue after an injury over 2 years ago and 20 plus doctors later. HUGE improvements made in all of her objectives and subjective symptoms. We are so happy to see the improvements and all of the hard work Katrien did over the past few weeks at theFNC.com. In a recent study of 70 patients with post-concussion syndrome that were disabled from work or school for a period of time exceeding 6 months after suffering a sports concussion; they found head–eye vestibular motion therapy of 5 days duration to be associated with statistical and substantive significant decreases of symptom severity associated with chronic post-concussion syndrome. In the study they "utilized an objective validated measurement of physical and mental health characteristics of their patients before and after a 1-week of head–eye vestibular motion rehabilitation program. All subjects were enrolled in a 5-day head–eye vestibular motion rehabilitation program with pre- and post testing outcomes. There were statistical and substantive significant decreases in post-concussion syndrome symptom severity after treatment and statistical and substantive significant increases in standardized assessment of concussion scores. The outcomes were associated with positive changes in mental and physical health issues."⁠

Minimally conscious patient gains control of her finger movements and let’s herself up & down off gyrostim hoist while listened to my commands ! 🤯🤯

At the beginning of the week the patient arrived in a vegetative state ( not able to open eyes, move limbs, or respond to commands).

Now she is able to open eyes, listen to commands, and is gaining control of her fine motor movements.

Hope After Head Injury Support Group

Just finished an amazing few days at The Functional Neurology Center - Minnetonka, MN!✨🧠

Brain injury is one of the hard things to treat and pinpoint because it’s invisible. It’s also hard to explain the lived experience to other people because they can’t see it on the outside. And sometimes it’s hard to find the words to even explain how you were feeling and why you are feeling that way. At least for me, often times it’s the general sense of… I’m not right… I feel awful… But I can’t exactly figure out why, and I don’t exactly know what, but I just feel really bad all the time.

The biggest take away this week was learning the root of why I have such bad headaches, why I feel overwhelmed, why my balance is off, and why I’m so fatigued all the time.🧠 There are some very specific neurological things going on that Dr. Jeremy Schmoe DC DACNB found and is able to give me targeted exercises to treat… and make it better!!😁 I’m exhausted right now, but feeling so hopeful and excited, and so grateful to Dr. Schmoe! I’m already blown away at how much my brain has improved. Will share more soon!

👀 I filmed mostly everything and will have full video blogs out soon showing and explaining exactly what we did and how it helped! There’s just too much to explain in social media posts, and I wanted to give everyone a full look into it.

After treatment she is now able to read a whole book within a week, she is ready for competition equestrian riding again, she can sleep through the night, no more migraines, no more tremors and she is ready for boarding school!
