I heard a young couple talk about how everyone asked them about their wedding prep. “What flowers are you going to pick?” “What colors are you going with for the wedding?” “What venue did you pick?” He said everyone was so worried about our wedding prep, but no one was teaching us about marriage prep. They both read, I believe it to be, an A.W. Tozer’s, or a different famous Christian authors, book on marriage.

A wedding is great but that is not the main focal point for marriage. What are you going to do after all the hype of getting married? You realize both of your lives will change, right? You’ll have to learn to live with each other. Handle finances together.

Marriage is work.

This is why we ought to be learning (if we’re single or dating) to be focused on marriage prep rather than wedding prep. We need to let go of the hype of the wedding and ask God to prepare us before and after entering this new path.
