Coaches Corner this week is about Sleep.

Sleep is the number 1 tool an athlete has for recovery. Sleep should be prioritized so an athlete can execute hard days hard and easy days easy. A minimum of 7 hours is needed, more in heavy work load phases. The lack of proper sleep increases the risk of injury and hampers performance.

Enjoy your last few days of February and get your sleep.

Jeff Galloway, Olympian and Pioneer of the Run/Walk Method, Dies at 80 After qualifying for the Olympic Games in the 10,000 meters in 1972, he went on to become an influential running author.

Coaches Corner - many athletes are in the belief that gains are made either on the road, on the bike, in the pool or in the gym. When in fact gains are made in your Recovery. Proper time off between workouts, workouts geared to recovery, proper sleep, correct nutrition and hydration are all part of the recovery. Enjoy your recovery. Take it serious.
