Collierville Community Justice
Collierville Community Justice (CCJ) is a diverse, intergenerational coalition of citizens working to challenge systems of institutional racism in our town.
Our goal is to build an enduring movement for racial and economic justice for all Colliervillians. Rather than “erasing history,” we aim to acknowledge its troubling aspects— and to envision a better, more inclusive history than the one that our town was founded upon. 🏆✨ We Brought Home the Gold ✨🏆
Our Visitor Services Coordinator, Weslea, is still in awe!
We’re thrilled to announce that the Morton Museum of Collierville History received an Award of Excellence at the Tennessee Association of Museums' annual conference last week in Knoxville! The award recognizes our 2024 temporary exhibition, "Writing Alcorn Village," which was co-created with Collierville Community Justice to highlight the rich and often untold stories of Collierville’s African American community.
Through oral histories, photographs, and archival research, "Writing Alcorn Village" sheds light on the vibrant life of this neighborhood and its lasting impact on Collierville’s history. We’re honored to see this important work recognized and remain committed to telling inclusive stories that reflect our diverse community.
Thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to this powerful exhibition! 🎉

⭐️ Less than 2 weeks remaining to visit CCJ’s special exhibit, “Writing Alcorn Village,” at the Morton Museum of Collierville History!
✍🏼 This exhibit is a culmination of CCJ’s intensive research on Alcorn Village, Collierville’s first historically Black neighborhood. At a time when redlining and discriminatory lending practices excluded Black Americans from living in the suburbs, Alcorn Village transformed opportunities for aspiring Black homeowners.
🗓️ Make sure to come check the exhibit out while it’s still up, until November 23.
📸 Swipe for a preview of the exhibit from the opening reception!
