9 years ago today, Henry James Townsend, Pinetop Perkins, Robert Lockwood, Jr. and Honeyboy Edwards the " Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen performed a historic concert at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas, Texas. The concert was recorded and went on to receive the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues album of the year. All four bluesmen have now passed on but the legacy continues. To date The Blue Shoe Project has provided music education programs to over 175,000 children in Texas. It all started with the legends.
