Trees are plant powerhouses, but even they need help sometimes. Extension foresters lead programs and research projects across Illinois to help anyone with trees on their property better understand and manage them.

"People love their trees and don’t want to see them in decline. As a forester, I get asked a lot, β€˜What is wrong with my tree?’ It can be difficult to diagnose tree problems, so I help figure out what is wrong or connect them with a contact who can."
- Christopher Evans, forestry Extension and research specialist

Happy Friday (20250725)! This has been a busy week with the Texas Pecan Growers Association meeting in Denton in the early part of the week, and conducted a session at the East TX Greenhouse and Nursery (pesticide applicator continuing education) training program organized by Dr. Rafia Khan in Overton. Next week will be a busy one too, but with an activity that you can participate in. We are hosting Dr. Jacqueline Fletcher who once directed (I think she help establish this too) the National Institute for Microbial Forensics & Food and Agricultural Biosecurity at Oklahoma State University prior to her retirement. She is also a TAMU PLPM former student! She will be share some of her experiences in a seminar on Monday at 1130 Eastern Time which you can join via zoom. (Access point can be found on the attached image). If this is a topic that interest you, be sure to stop in to listen.
Have a fun, safe, great and healthy weekend. -KO

I've been seeing slime molds growing on turfgrass around College Station.

This native fungus grows on the grass blades and does not cause problems to the grass.

Cool find!
