PUBLIC NOTICE: VILLAGE OF COLD SPRING SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE ON THE PLANNING BOARD
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to the provisions of § 7‑718 of the Village Law of the State of New York and Chapter 21 of the Village Code, the Village of Cold Spring seeks to fill one vacant seat on the Planning Board.

The Village is accepting applications from Village residents interested in serving on the Planning Board for an unexpired term ending November 30, 2027. This is a volunteer position.

Qualified candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and qualifications for the position by July 3, 2026, to:

The Village has been notified by Royal/Casella that they were unable to complete their garbage pick-up route in the Village today. They will complete the route tomorrow, Friday 6/19. Recycling will be picked up as usual. Royal apologizes for the inconvenience.

REMINDER: Village Hall will be closed Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

Regular business hours will resume on Monday, June 22nd.

LAWN + LEAF PICK-UP REMINDER

The Village's lawn and leaf pickup will take place on THURSDAY, JUNE 18.

Please note: Leaves must be placed in paper bags. Brush must be bundled and tied.
• No bundles more than 5' in length
• No sticks larger than 3" in diameter
• No logs

This is the only pickup scheduled for the month of June. Residents are asked to have all bags placed curbside before the morning pickup begins.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Thursday, June 11, 2026
Contractors plan to conduct roadwork on East Belvedere Street in the Village of Cold Spring, weather permitting, Thursday morning, 06/11/2026, beginning about 9:00 AM. Water and sewer service are not expected to be affected, and the street will remain accessible to local traffic throughout the day.

NOW HIRING: SEASONAL LABORER (Temporary Full-Time): The Village of Cold Spring, Putnam County, NY, is seeking a versatile FULL-TIME TEMPORARY SEASONAL LABORER to join our Roadways & Facilities Department. As a Seasonal Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining Village operations by performing various tasks to support the efficient functioning of our buildings and roadways. This temporary position pays $20 to $22 per hour / 40 hours per week.

Duties include:
*Assisting with Road Maintenance Program, including work with concrete and asphalt; patching, resurfacing and grading of roads and maintenance of traffic signs and markings
*Operating various types of equipment, including lawnmowers, chainsaws, trimmers, etc.
*Assisting with small-engine and ad-hoc mechanical projects as necessary.
*Support Roadways & Facilities Crew Chief in related activities as required.

Qualifications:
*Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
*Manual skills and willingness to consistently perform routine labor
*Ability to operate various types of mechanized equipment safely and efficiently
*Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as required
*NYS Driver's License (CDL a Bonus)

WATER SERVICE RESTORED FOLLOWING BRIEF OUTAGE 06/04/2026

Following a water main break, water service was lost briefly in the northeast quadrant of the Village this afternoon, including Haldane Central School. The break was quickly isolated, and service has now been restored to the school and all but one Village residence. We apologize for the inconvenience to all affected. Although service was restored quickly, Haldane has protocols it must follow in emergencies. We recognize that necessary early dismissal at Haldane caused disruption for families and children.

For Village residents who do not receive alerts from Haldane Central School, we are sharing school superintendent Gail Duffy's notification issued at 12:04 PM today, here:

Dear Haldane Families:

We were just notified of a water main break in the Village of Cold Spring. The impact on Haldane’s water supply and restrooms requires us to dismiss students early today. Students will be dismissed via their regular procedures.

*PreK students will be dismissed at 12:45pm.
*Middle and high school students will be dismissed at 1:00pm.
*Elementary students will be dismissed at 1:45pm.
*After school activities are cancelled and the Strawberry Festival will be postponed. Track will remain on schedule.
