A pair of heirloom Wi******er Model 70s ready for a second life.

18.5” barrels chambered in 30-06

One is full nitride. Sitting in the original stock.

The other action started life as a matte stainless. It went out for a full polish. We thought that would match the new super grade stock better.

Kampfeld fluting and bolt k***s.

It makes me proud people trust me with these types of projects. Thanks for looking.

Got a new tube on 300 RUM

Look at this war horse!
I have built so many 300 RUMs. I have a couple different reamers. That have all been back for resharpening. This is the first ever RUM to be in for a rebarrel. They shot the dog f**k out of it! I think they said 1500 rounds out of a sub 7 pound rifle
James and his dad had so much info on this barrel. Round count. Cleaning schedule. Cleaned bore took 6 rounds to refoul. Seating depth tests. Powder charge tests. I was impressed. All that and a mountain of dead critters!
Frank and I nerded out for a couple hours on reloading. We went through some ways to hammer out some ES and vertical stringing issues.
It reminded me that i love helping people kill stuff better. They made it easy for me though.

Peak WPR
A hard pill to swallow.
A dozen years plus of chambering magnum hunting calibers. I don’t see many rebarrels on them. Originally a 28 Nosler. This rifle is back for a new barrel. A 30 cal. And a thunderbeast.
I built a pile of rifles exactly similar to this. I feel the custom parts manufacturers. The customer service. Lead times. Prices. My drive. All peaked. These were actual custom rifles. All my tweaks.
I still get to build a pile of badass rifles. All with parts that would make Henry Ford proud. I see you custom paint guys picking up the slack on cookie cutter rifles. Making them custom. I can’t Bob Ross paint s**t. I can run the hell out of a manual lathe and mill though. Big deal. 😂🤦🏻
