Vet Center and G.I. Java

The Vet Center Thrift will have a cozy space for vets to gather and chat, as well as a room for counseling and small groups.

We have found a NEW LOCATION and will be opening sometime in April as the Vet Center with a thrift store as our funding source. A generous donor has committed a large quantity of vintage/antique items (guys will love this stuff!), but we will need gently used articles of clothing, furniture, etc.. What we do not use we will be donating to NewbyGinnings. The yet-to-be-named thrift will have a gathering area for veterans, as well as a private meeting room. If you are starting your Spring Cleaning, please think of us! We can do pick ups in the CdA/PF/Hayden area. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VETERANS!

You may have noticed that the Vet Center and G.I. Java have "exited the building", literally. Roof issues that could not be resolved have kept our facility closed since before Christmas. We have desperately been seeking another location, and thought we had one, but that fell through. For now, we are permanently closed as an actual "center" and coffee shop. We are carrying on our mission of helping veterans through the Veteran's Relief Fund, Inc., which the Vet Center and G.I. Java existed under as "dbas" ("doing business as" entities). If you are a veteran and need to find out about local resources, feel free to PM (private message) us here on this page or on the Veteran Relief Fund's page.

Our Outdoor Adventures for Veterans Program, spearheaded by local vet Aaron Lunceford, is still in place. Our first excursion will be March 3, 2018 to Lookout Mountain for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Our next coffee get-together will be Saturday, February 24th at 1 PM at Calypsos Coffee House on Lakeside between 1st and 2nd Streets. If you miss the camaraderie of G.I. Java, look for us there!
