This differential bushing has a pretty obvious problem. The rubber has cracked all the way through, allowing the differential to move more than it should.

Differential bushings are there to control movement of the differential under acceleration, deceleration, and changes in load. When the rubber starts to separate or crack, that movement can cause clunking or banging noises, drivetrain vibration, or a noticeable jolt when getting on or off the throttle.

A worn bushing can also put additional stress on other drivetrain components. Sometimes the bushing itself is the only problem, but it is always worth checking the surrounding mounts and hardware for signs of excessive movement or damage.

Not every cracked bushing needs to be replaced immediately, but a crack that has progressed to separation or allows excessive movement is a different story.

If you hear a clunk from the rear of your vehicle when accelerating, decelerating, or shifting between drive and reverse, it is worth having it checked out.

Oil inside an electrical connector is never a good sign.

In this case, the oil pressure sensor has failed internally and is allowing engine oil to travel through the sensor and into the electrical connector. What may look like a simple oil leak can actually turn into an electrical problem if the oil continues to wick into the wiring harness.

Oil contamination can affect the sensor signal, cause intermittent warning lights, and in some cases travel farther down the harness to other connectors.

**Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm (weekends off)

Qualifications

-15+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience
-ASE or OEM certifications strongly preferred
-Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
-Proficient with modern diagnostic equipment and repair tools
-Clean driver’s license
-Team-oriented with a positive attitude

It’s Tech Tip Tuesday! 👨‍🔧

Take a look at the tip of this fuel injector. That black buildup is carbon and fuel deposits, and on some injectors those deposits can interfere with the tiny openings that are responsible for creating the proper fuel spray pattern.

A fuel injector doesn’t just dump fuel into the engine. It has to meter a precise amount of fuel and atomize it into a specific spray pattern. When deposits build up around the nozzle, the spray can become distorted and fuel delivery can be reduced. That can contribute to rough running, misfires, poor fuel economy and increased emissions.

This is especially important on gasoline direct injection engines, where the injector tip is exposed directly to the combustion chamber and much higher temperatures.

If your vehicle is running rough, losing fuel economy, or setting misfire codes, the fuel injectors are one of the components that may need to be tested rather than simply guessing and replacing parts.

This is something you definitely do not want to find when taking a wheel off.

This wheel was missing several lug nuts, and the wheel studs had damaged threads. Lug nuts are what keep the wheel properly clamped against the hub. When they are missing or loose, the remaining studs and lug nuts have to handle forces they were never designed to handle.

Damaged threads can also prevent a lug nut from properly tightening and maintaining the correct clamping force. In some cases, the damaged stud needs to be replaced before the vehicle is safely back on the road.

If you notice a missing lug nut, loose wheel, or anything unusual around your wheels, don't ignore it. A quick inspection can prevent a much bigger problem.

This center support bearing has seen better days. The rubber isolator around the bearing is swollen, cracked, and starting to tear apart.

The center support bearing helps support the driveshaft and keeps it properly aligned as it spins. When the rubber deteriorates, the driveshaft can develop excessive movement, which can lead to vibrations, clunking noises, or a noticeable thump when accelerating or letting off the gas.

This is one of those parts that can look fine at a quick glance but tell a very different story when you get underneath the vehicle. Catching a worn center support bearing early can help prevent additional driveshaft or driveline damage.
