Why do most people hate to talk about money? The three main reasons people hate to talk about money is: 1) They don't have enough, 2) They think others will take it or "borrow" and never pay it back, 3) It always seems to be the source of an argument - especially with spouses. My grand kids are currently ages 20, 14, 13, 12, and 10. For each of them this last year, we had some very good conversations about money, chores, allowances, and dreams. Then I showed them each their savings accounts. Also, I told them that it wasn't going to be free---they have to earn it.

What would your 18 year old do when they receive a $3,000 gift? Would they blow it on a "Pizza Party"...."Go on a frivolous shopping spree"...."Buy a fixer-upper car"? NOT MY GRAND KIDS! Young Adults are not prepared to take on the challenges of life. What will your kids (or grand-kids) be doing when they graduate high school?....Continue to live with mom and dad?...Go into debt to help pay for college needs?.... Get a job to save for a car?....Rely on mom/dad to make ends meet? I think basic finance management should taught in public schools. Could be a topic in "Home Economics" or a topic in "Math". What is your opinion?
