Firemanship Conference 2025. What an incredible week! Had the opportunity to sit on 3 days of lecture from some of the best in the fire service and then deliver 2 days of engine ops to firemen from across the country. Thanks to our brother for the trust and for taking a chance on a small cadre from California. To our class participants, it means the world to us that you chose to take our class with how stacked the line up was. This week is just another form of confirmation that the fire service is in an amazing place right now. The poison is spreading and spreading fast! “Why are you here?” THEM! Welcome. Valued. Cared for.

That’s a wrap for San Diego! We had the incredible opportunity to come out to SD Miramar College and provide 2 “Train the Trainer” sessions for their academy Instructors and Skills Coaches. This was a private class offered only to their personnel with the goal of adopting our system, mindset, and approach to engine work. It was an incredible opportunity for us to share our mission with those impacting the next generation of firefighters. We cannot thank Matt Jewett and the rest of the enough for their trust and dedication to investing in their personnel.

Change_the_CDF making a push through our hallway prop. He’s flowing Key Hose Combat Ready 1.88” and HEN Nozzles 175@45 Force nozzle. Note some key takeaways from the push:
* The nozzleman establishes a smooth rhythm to tie his upper body movement in with his lower body movement.
* Deliberate stream application. The nozzle is brought up to cool locally and then the stream is lowered to reach out and cool out in front.
* The simulated gases in the hallway are controlled and then the stream is directed into the compartment for the remainder of the push.
* Once the corner is made the stream is directed to the surface fuels for base extinguishment.
Building good habits such as deliberate stream usage and proper body mechanics/positioning are key objectives in this controlled environment. Once the rhythm is established, a tempo can be applied on the fireground based on the conditions encountered.
Strong work!
