โ ๏ธ SCAM ALERT: Clinton Police Department Impersonation
The Clinton Police Department has received an increase in reports from individuals targeted by a phone scam involving callers falsely claiming to represent CPD.
๐ During this scam, the caller ID may or may not show the CPD non-emergency phone number, (601) 924-5252. Additionally, (601) 339-6977 is also being used in this scam. The caller accuses the victim of owing money for old fines and informs the victim a warrant has been issued for their arrest unless the fines are rectified.
The caller has had the victims deposit money into Bitcoin repository to clear their warrants. After this deposit is made, the money is gone and will not be recovered.
The scammers even have a fake answering service identifying themselves as law enforcement officials with the Clinton Police Department, asking for the victim to leave a message with contact information so their call can be returned.
๐ Important Reminders
The Clinton Police Department will NEVER:
Request payment over the phone
Ask for your banking information
Instruct you to send money via Bitcoin, wire transfer, or prepaid card
๐ How to Protect Yourself:
Hang up immediately if you receive a suspicious call.
Verify directly by calling CPD at 601-924-5252 using contact info from the official city website.
Do not rely on caller ID โ numbers can be spoofed to look legitimate.
Never share personal or financial information over the phone.
Donโt send money under pressure โ urgency is a common scam tactic.
The Clinton Police Department is actively working to stop these fraudulent calls. The best defense against scams is public awareness. Stay alert, trust your instincts, and report suspicious activity immediately.

Congratulations to Detective Noah McCraw and K9 Detective Anthony Fox for completing the NIC - Narcotics Investigators Certification Program. These Detectives underwent over 200 hours of training and graduated today.
The purpose of the NIC program is to teach narcotics investigators a proven method of investigative skills to use in multiple areas of drug enforcement and to enhance the participants' ability to effectively investigate the illegal use and distribution of narcotics. It will also ensure the investigator knows how to document all case evidence for proper prosecution, such as seizure notices, secondary search warrants on recovered items, prosecution packets, and report writing.
