SkyRoot Farm
building dirt, growing food, nurturing relationships....Heck YEAH - SkyRoot Farm Care for the soil is at the heart of our sustainable farming practice.
We are a small market farm providing fresh organically grown produce for local restaurants, the Bayview Farmer's Market, and weekly CSA boxes for Whidbey Island customers. We believe that rather than 1 farmer for every 50 people we need 1 farmer for every 10 people. Our philosophy of farming is: lots of farmers working small farms, educating consumers, sustaining rural communities and consistently fine tuning integrated, sustainable food production. We're on Instagram too: @skyroot_farmers

Well, it is mid Summer and we have been working away on the farm. 1. We have had a group of Campers from WABE visit our farm last week-they visited the goats, helped pull some garlic, and enjoyed our farm lunch.
2. In a recent evening a few friends joined the farm team and we planted our fall planting of kale! Hooray for cooler evening light and farm friends!
3. And a feast for farmers and friends happened around the table. thank you vegetables, thank you cows, thank you farmers that tend them all.

Since the start of the season, Lucy Mae has been talking about wanting to tan a hide! Last week we butchered one of the goats for our harvest party so Lucy started working on the hide and we worked on it as a team for intern ed this week! Lucy Mae and I have continued to work on it today, although we are finding it is very time consuming… More to come ;)
