Last week, we shared the custom locker and gun room at this private duck lodge. Today, we’re stepping into the heart of it.

The kitchen carries that same rugged warmth into a space designed for cooking, gathering, and settling in after the hunt.

Inset cabinetry featuring our Erickson door and drawer style is finished in Sherwin-Williams Roycroft Bottle Green, creating a rich, grounded contrast against the lodge’s natural stone and warm wood tones.

Inside, rustic white oak adds another layer of character to the cabinetry, custom dividers, and pullout storage.

Custom metal cabinet frames fabricated by Custer’s Welding bring an industrial edge to the room and help connect the cabinetry with the appliances and surrounding architecture.

And then there’s the countertop. Fabricated by Carthage Stoneworks, the stone extends beyond the kitchen and waterfalls all the way to the basement floor, transforming a functional transition into one of the lodge’s defining features.

From the locker room to the kitchen, every space was built around the way this lodge is truly used.

Meet Bryan Albin, also known as “The Albinator.”

Bryan has been with Parks Cabinets since 2005 and is now one of only a few people still here who had the chance to work alongside our dad, Bill.

No job has ever been too big, too small, or too darn random for Bryan. Ask him to do something, and he might grumble a little (just a little), but that's just part of his charm. At the end of the day, no matter the request, he takes it seriously and gets it done.

He an early riser, and by early, we mean sometimes showing up while the rest of us are still asleep. When something needs to get finished and out the door, Bryan is usually already on it.

He may not always get the credit he deserves, and he can be easy to underestimate, but he is nearly impossible to outwork. He has a heart of gold, knows this shop inside and out, and has always been willing to jump in wherever he is needed.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys spending time with his kids and parents, collecting magnets from the places he has traveled, and sitting on his front porch watching the traffic go by and the sun go down. You can also catch him enjoying Taco Tuesday with a margarita, watching and talking Chiefs football, or listening to some good ’90s music.

And if you work in the office, you have probably been greeted with his signature:

“Hey, girlfriend!”

That’s Bryan. Hardworking, dependable, full of personality, and always willing to get it done, even if he has a few comments along the way. Parks Cabinets would not be the same without The Albinator.

This isn’t your average mudroom.

Designed for a private duck lodge, this custom locker and gun room creates a dedicated place for everything needed before and after the hunt.

Knotty alder cabinetry wraps the space in warmth and character, finished in our ½ & ½ stain with Van D**e Brown glaze and flat finish. Shaker doors, slab drawers, open lockers, bench seating, and custom firearm storage give every piece of gear a place of its own.

Even the gun safe was thoughtfully integrated into the cabinetry, allowing it to feel like part of the room rather than an afterthought.

Rugged, organized, and built specifically for the way this lodge is used.

Some pieces of home are worth carrying forward.

Before this beam became the mantle in our showroom, it was part of our grandparents’ 100-year-old farmhouse in Calhoun.

It was the childhood home of our dad, Bill, and all of our aunts and uncles. A place filled with family, memories, and the early years of the people who helped shape who we are.

Our story began just steps away, in our grandpa’s garage, where our dad started building cabinets in 1978.

As Parks Cabinets grew, the property had to grow with it. Eventually, that meant making the difficult decision to take down the farmhouse and make room for another building.

When the time came, our Uncle Bob took on the deeply personal task of bringing down the home where he, our dad, and their siblings had been raised.

One original beam was carefully saved.

Today, it rests above the fireplace in our showroom, weathered and full of history. More than a design feature, it is a quiet reminder of the family, the home, and the values that stood here long before the business grew around them.

Clean lines on the outside. Clever details behind every door.

This kitchen may look beautifully simple, but there is a lot happening beneath the surface.

A tall storage cabinet blends seamlessly into the rift-sawn white oak perimeter. Hidden electrical is tucked discreetly into the walnut island, keeping switches and outlets close without interrupting the design. Additional storage along the back of the island makes use of space that could have easily gone unnoticed.

Because modern design should not only look good. It should quietly make life easier.

Modern, but never cold.

This kitchen balances clean lines with the natural warmth of wood, pairing a flat-sawn walnut island with a custom-stained, rift-sawn white oak perimeter.

The island’s natural flat finish lets the walnut grain take center stage, while the slatted ends add texture, rhythm, and dimension. Slab doors and drawers throughout keep the look streamlined and give each material room to speak.

Meet Dan Dutton, our Shop Foreman, a 15-year Parks Cabinets veteran, and no confirmed relation to John, Beth, or Kayce.

He’s not out chasing cattle on the ranch, but he is keeping things moving in the shop, which around here is its own kind of operation.

Dan says his favorite part of working at Parks Cabinets is the people and the cabinetry. He’s also part of the specialty work that makes custom cabinetry feel truly custom, helping bring those extra-thoughtful details to life.

Outside of work, you’ll probably find him fishing.
His go-to workday snack? No snack. Just Red Bull.
Fun fact? In Dan’s words: “I’m old.”
What always makes him smile? Meeting a deadline.

To Dan, Pride in Every Detail means making sure the thought process is considered from the start, so the final product reflects quality all the way through.
