You could feel it from the very first pitch⦠this one was different. ā¾ļøš¶
When Tomas Valincius took the mound at Dudy Noble Field in front of more than 15,000 of his favorite fans, the energy was electric. His very first pitch registered 100 mphāthe fastest pitch of the night. If you werenāt watching the radar gun, you probably missed it, but it set the tone for everything that followed.
Valincius was simply dominant, attacking hitters and keeping Cincinnati off balance all afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Mississippi State bats stayed hot. There were hit batters, great sportsmanship, and even a head-to-head athletic battle between Jacob Parker and Cincinnatiās second baseman that had fans on the edge of their seats.
Of course, it wouldnāt be Mississippi State baseball without a little late-game drama. The 8th and 9th innings were a bit more stressful than Bulldog fans would have preferred, but the Diamond Dawgs answered every challenge.
Final: Mississippi State 10, Cincinnati 5.
The Road to Omaha continues through Starkville, and Dudy Noble Field once again proved why itās one of the greatest atmospheres in college baseball.
Join Made in Mississippi as we cheer on the Diamond Dawgs in the Starkville Regional Final!
