We’re really excited to offer cranberries this year from Old Earth Orchards in Taunton, MA! They have two varieties available, Early Black and Howe, each sold in one-pound bags at $5.50/lb.

Early Blacks were discovered in Harwich, MA in 1852, and are highest in antioxidants of all cranberries. These make a gorgeous deep red sauce.

Howes were discovered in 1843 in East Dennis, MA, and were renowned in pre-refrigeration days for their incredible keeping qualities. In a walk-in cooler they have been known to last until May. Tart and firm, they are great for drying.

***They will be available by preorder only - order by Friday, 11/14 for pick up in Clinton on Tuesday, 11/18. More info on our website, link in bio

Local Foods Mohawk Valley is hosting our first annual chili cook-off on Tuesday, October 14th, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s!

Come enjoy some delicious chili, connect with neighbors, and support a good cause at Local Foods Mohawk Valley's first annual chili cook-off!

Tuesday, October 14th, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the St. Mary's School gym (usual pick up location).

All proceeds go to The Country Pantry, our local food pantry, which serves between five and six hundred families a month in Clinton, Clark Mills, and Westmoreland.

We’re looking for at least six chili entries, three con carne and three vegetarian.

To enter, we ask that your chili features either LFMV meat or LFMV beans (the service charge will be waived on that order, and on all orders placed for pick up on 10/14). Tasters will vote for their favorites, and the winners for each category will receive a $50 LFMV gift certificate!

You’ll bring your chili on the 14th in a crockpot or an Instant Pot (if you’d like to participate but don’t have one, let us know and we’ll try to figure something out) along with a ladle. We’ll provide bowls, spoons, cups, and cider.

REGISTER AS A COOK OR A TASTER HERE, or DM us for the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdFjVFvLHGG6q8NCNXgLaq5bkAfWSp_6H6RaMY9_qCX5iytVA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=113672776586079489627

Bring your appetite and a donation ($10 - $?) for The Country Pantry. They accept cash and checks, and we’ll also have a QR code printout that will direct you to the donation link on their website.

Hope to see you there!

So the algorithm doesn’t forget us completely. Pea shoots in everything, and if not pea shoots, then beets. Also mead class, toasted buckwheat/brown butter/maple sugar cookies, and forsythia.

Making these summer rolls was an Instagram vs reality rage-inducing moment: it took several tries to figure out the precise balance between a pliable and brittle wrapper, the right medium for drying them, the proper amount of filling etc etc. The result was an admittedly slapdash creation, but made so much prettier by the addition of edible flowers from . Their edible flowers also featured in the jar of iced peaceful heart tea I drank to calm down after 🤪
