🐾 Thankful Thursday 🐾

Today we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to our friends at Neil E. Reid High School for stopping by to visit our shelter pets and bringing along some amazing donations! ❤️

Throughout the week, students and staff held special fundraising events to support the animals at Macomb County Animal Control, and we are so grateful for their kindness and generosity.

We even heard there was a “pay to throw a cupcake at the principal” fundraiser that was a huge hit! 🧁😂 Now that’s one way to raise money for a great cause!

Our pets absolutely adored their visitors. There were plenty of belly rubs, cuddles, smiles, and attention to go around, and it’s safe to say the students stole a few hearts along the way. 🐶🐱

Thank you to everyone Neil E. Reid High School for thinking of our shelter pets and helping make a difference in their lives. Your support means more than you know, and we are so lucky to have such caring young people in our community.

You guys rock! 🤘🐾❤️

🐉 How to Train Your Dragon... and Adopt Two of Them 🐉

Meet Hiccup and Toothless. ❤️

These 7-year-old brothers were found abandoned at a storage facility in Roseville, lying in separate areas of the property. Both were severely matted, declawed on all four paws, and in need of medical care. One had only a single tooth remaining and painful hematomas on both ears from years of untreated infections.

Despite everything they've been through, these boys are as sweet as can be.

Since arriving at Macomb County Animal Control, they've received veterinary care, grooming, and lots of love. Their lion cuts may make them look fierce, but they're really just two gentle brothers who find comfort in each other after surviving a very difficult chapter of life.

Like their movie namesakes, Hiccup and Toothless are a team. They sleep together, seek each other out, and deserve to spend the rest of their lives side by side.

Thanks to the generous donations we receive to our Animal Welfare Fund, we were able to provide the medical care and the amazing staff at Kitty Cuts Grooming generously donated the grooming these boys desperately needed. Stories like theirs are exactly why the fund exists.

Now all they need is a family.

Could your home be their happily ever after?

If you're interested in adopting Hiccup and Toothless, stop by Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and meet your new best friends. ❤️🐾

Not in a position to adopt? You can still help. Please consider making a donation to our Animal Welfare Fund and sharing this post here: https://checkout.square.site/merchant/ML9QZDZQAA3FB/checkout/OU5WHABE6L3ZAOA3WJILYYQI

Together, we can help more animals like Hiccup and Toothless get the second chance they deserve.

The numbers are in from our annual Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic, and what a day it was! 🐶🐱

With perfect weather, amazing volunteers, and a community that showed up ready to protect their pets, we were able to vaccinate 516 pets and implant 119 microchips. Even better, 389 pets were already microchipped!! Way to go, Macomb County! 🎉 👏

This year’s clinic wasn’t just about vaccines. Families enjoyed cool treats from Tweets Sweet Treats Ice Cream🍦and delicious hot dogs from RJ’S Dog House 🌭, all generously provided by our friends at Nickel & Saph, Inc. Nickel & Saph Insurance, THANK YOU for helping make the day extra special for our residents and their pets!! What an incredible way to give back to the community! 🫶

A huge thank you also goes out to Bethesda Christian Church for once again opening their beautiful campus to us and helping make this event possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our residents, volunteers, veterinary team, and staff who worked together to make the clinic run so smoothly. Your support helped hundreds of pets stay healthy, safe, and protected.

We had an amazing day and can’t wait to do it all again next year! ❤️🐾

Oh, and one more thing…

Yesterday’s vaccine clinic was BIG! Like, really big! Tomorrow we’ll share the numbers, photos, and a few behind-the-scenes moments from an incredible day. Spoiler alert: it involved a lot of wagging tails, amazing volunteers, rockstar staff, an ice cream truck, a hot dog cart and an extremely supportive community. We had a blast, and hope you did too! ❤️

🐾 Thankful Thursday 🐾

Today, we want to send a HUGE thank you to the incredible students from L'Anse Creuse Public Schools Tenniswood Elementary K-5 Student Council!

These amazing kids recently held a Penny War and raised over $600 to support the animals at Macomb County Animal Control! As if that wasn’t enough, they also made cozy blankets and delicious peanut butter dog treats for our shelter pets.

The dogs were big fans of the treats, and we were blown away by the kindness, compassion, and generosity these students showed. ❤️

They say pennies add up, and these students proved that a little change can make a BIG difference. From warm blankets to happy tails and full bellies, their hard work is already helping animals in need.

Thank you for reminding us that some of the biggest hearts come in the smallest packages. 🐶🐱💙

The future is looking pretty bright when it’s filled with kids like these 🐾
