in 1939, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary was formed as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
We took a look through our collections, and couldn't find anything from the Coast Guard Auxiliary, but we have a Coast Guard Flag that was given to us by our local VFW Post.

Thank you to all veterans and current service members.

Yesterday was Father's Day. It was a great time to reflect on all the father figures in our lives. Here at the Bosque Museum, our father figure is our founder, Jacob Olson. His father, Joseph Olson, built the log cabin that sits next to the museum to house his growing family as they lived in Norse. It is officially titled the Joseph Olson Log Cabin to honor the father of our museum's founder.

Have you ever taken a peek inside the log cabin? Our Summer Campers get the privilege of going into the cabin every summer! Just a few more spots are left in our STEM on the Frontier session. Register your camper on our website today to grab one of those spots!

Happy First Day of Summer!!!🌞🏖😎🍉🔅⛱

We still have a few spots in our STEM on the Frontier Camp, July 7-10. Spots are available on our website at https://www.bosquemuseum.org/summer-camp

Sampler Camp still has plenty of room for lots of campers, but you get a discount when you register a camper for more than one camp, so save some money and register for both at once!

We had so much fun last year, we had to include some photos for y'all to get a glimpse into what our camps look like.

In honor of our Author Evening with Tessa Chenoa, for her new release Lassoing Snakes, we went for a little nature walk around the Museum. No snakes, but plenty of other critters! How many can you spot in these photos?

Take your own nature walk and then join us on June 25th at 6:30 to hear Tessa read from her book and get your own copy!

It was a full house today Meridian Texas Public Library when we came to show off some of our fossils & mammoth teeth! After Ms. Karen read the stories, we had some Fossil touch time and then wrapped it up with a Mammoth craft 🦣

We love coming out to y'all - see you next year!!

Earlier this month, we were pleased to host Norwegian author, Gunnar Nerheim, and his wife Kari. We chatted about Norwegian Culture, our rich photo collection, partnerships, and the future! We even had time to host a meeting with the (pictured).

We've since ordered more of Gunnar's book, Norsemen Deep in the Heart of Texas, and it will be available for purchase in our Gift Shop. If you need even more of his writing, check out http://clengpeerson.no for articles about Norwegian immigration across the US.

It's time for some , but we aren't going too far back this time! One month ago was our annual Docent Tea Party & Style Show. Each year has a theme, and in order to celebrate America @ 250, this year's theme was Steeped in Freedom. A critical part of this nation's founding involved tea, so we leaned into the Colonial era. Don't worry - we didn't commit to the bit and dump tea into the Bosque River!

The afternoon was a multigenerational affair with several tables with three generations of ladies. We love that everyone, from young to old, felt welcome in the museum and enjoyed their afternoon with family and friends.

What was your favorite part of the Tea Party & Style Show if you were able to attend?
