Sam Raimi’s new rated R film “Send Help” is hitting theaters this week, but the Evil Dead creator dropped some news on another property he is looking to unearth soon. When speaking about his new film to MovieWeb, Raimi opened up about the possibility of a sequel to his 1990 cult classic "Darkman”, saying “We’ve got a screenplay and two great directors, but we’re still having a little difficulty with the financing. It’s always the same in the movie business.”

Raimi is well known in the superhero genre for his box office blockbuster trilogy “Spider-Man” that really got the wheels spinning on both the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the DCU. Even diving into the realm of Doctor Strange most recently, the director’s superhero roots started with the dark humor and horror of “Darkman”. Mixing sci-fi elements, impressive action set pieces and a wonderfully dark and awkward performance from Neeson as the title character; Raimi’s film has found a cult audience over the last three and a half decades.

Unfortunately for Raimi fans, it doesn’t look like he’s interested in sitting back into the director’s chair this time around. Instead, naming a directing duo which leads to some suspicions that it could be Adam Schindler and Brian Netto who have both worked with Raimi and expressed interest in the property back in 2024.

While “Darkman” certainly has a cult following today, the first film spawned two direct to video sequels in the mid 90’s with no involvement from Raimi, that failed to live up to its predecessor. With the superhero genre and horror genre both in very different places today, could a “Darkman” sequel be the perfect marriage of both genres' audiences need? Will it not feel the same without Raimi back to helm the project? Let us know in the comments below!

ONE BLOW. ONE DEATH. ☠️
We are keeping a close eye on Whistle, and you should too. It’s the new creature feature from Corin Hardy (who gave us The Nun and The Hallow), and the concept is pure, classic horror:

A group of high school outcasts stumble upon a cursed whistle. You blow it... and you seal your fate.
We haven't seen it yet, but with a cast like Dafne Keen (Logan) and the legend Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), our expectations are high.

IT'S FINALLY COMING. 🩸🏆
We caught Dolly back at Fantastic Fest, and let us be clear: nothing else came close. It was hands down our favorite film of the festival.
Without spoiling the madness—it’s a twisted, violent take on the backwoods slasher where a woman is forced to "play house" with a maniac. It is genuinely unsettling and the tension does. not. let. up.

If you trust our recommendations, you need to see this.

Little Celebration for Horrors complete domination at the 2026 Academy Award Nominations 📽😱🤟🎃

01/23/2026

It’s official: 2026 is the year Horror took over Hollywood. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners just shattered the all-time record with 16 nominations, and del Toro’s Frankenstein is right behind it with 9. The genre isn't just surviving; it's feasting.

It looks like 28 Years Later might be dead on arrival. The box office numbers are looking scary (and not in a good way). We're breaking down if this franchise still has bite or if it should have stayed infected and isolated. 📉
