Going through my archives last year, I ran into this little treasure book.

Courtesy cards were very popular in the sixties and seventies. Many were misused by the recipients who tried to represent themselves as actual members. It slowly came to a stop. It appears it’s happening again, but now scammers are using the internet to not only mislead you, but get in your pockets for money.

I want all my friends to know, I will never ask you for a personal conversation on WhatsApp. I seldom talk on the phone. I also only sell merchandise on my George Christie website.

I have a question for the experienced riders and I need the raw truth I rode for yrs but i had sale my old bike about 2012 and I been wanting another one so bad I couldn't see strait since then so finally got one 09 electra glide ultra classic always wanted one got it a mouth ago and I was thinking I would just pick up were I left off on my other one. Boy I was wrong in so many ways I feel like I am learning all over again and it humbled me right real quick. My question is Did I get too big of a bike to get back on adter so meny years being off on ?

Seventies L-R. Cave Dave Ortega, D.R. from Daly City & Myself at Bass Lake. Always one of my favorite runs.

Lots of great memories at the lake. North and South would meet at the bar (can’t remember it’s name) at four corners and ride up to the lake together.

The bar owner had stacks of 8x10 paper for us to leave messages to each other and they lined the walls with cryptic verses to charters as well as individual members. The first time I entered the bar and saw the messages. I was mesmerized and spent the next hour reading all the notes.

The locals that waited for us to arrive were as excited as the Hells Angels that made this annual pilgrimage to Bass Lake…

I don’t think anyone will argue that the Outlaw Bike Culture helped put Bass Lake on the map, along with the way Hunter Thompson immortalized it in his book Hells Angels...
