Join us at First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland this Saturday for an evening of Jazz & Poetry. FBC members will be reading selections of favorite or original poems, interspersed with jazz selections performed by the Talewinds trio. Program begins at 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $15 at the door.

✨ Spotlight on: Brian Kozak ✨
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music (MM) and Baldwin-Wallace College (BM) with degrees in Classical Guitar Performance, Brian Kozak studied classical guitar with John Holmquist, Loris Chobanian and George Bachmann. Other studies include jazz and popular guitar styles with Brian Davidson, Basilio Frusteri and Cleveland Jazz Legend Bob Fraser as well as composition with acclaimed composer Jeffery Mumford.
Mr. Kozak regularly performs at the Northstar Cafe with the Demetrius Steinmetz Trio and with vocalist Katherine Bartlett as well as the First Baptist of Greater Cleveland Contemporary Worship Group were he serves as director of contemporary music. Brian is also on faculty at Cleveland State University, Lorain County Community College and Cuyahoga Community College (since 1993) and directs the Childbloom Guitar Program of Greater Cleveland.

✨ Spotlight on: Eileen Burns ✨
Eileen Burns’s performing credits include a year traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Japan and on a 10-day ocean cruise as the female vocalist for the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Locally, she was a co-host and vocalist in the Midnight Martini Show at Pickwick & Frolic for 5 years. She has sung with Canton Comic Opera, the Indianapolis Symphony and numerous theatrical productions throughout Northeast Ohio. Besides singing with Talewinds, she is currently the lead vocalist for local jazz/blues band Red Light Roxy.

✨ Spotlight on: Demetrius Steinmetz ✨
Demetrius Steinmetz holds a Master of Music in String Performance and Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University. He is on the Jazz Studies faculty at Tri-C, and also leads the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra as well as teaching outreach programs for the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.
He has played with nationally known artists such as Wayne Newton, Jimmy Heath, Carl Allen, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Kim Nazarian, Howard Johnson, Doug Lawrence and Chico Hamilton, and has been recorded on Cadence Records, which received four stars in a review in Downbeat magazine.
Currently, Demetrius can be heard most Friday and Saturday evenings at Northstar Café in Shaker Heights with his jazz trio.
