This summer, we took the Time to Care Ohio Coalition on the road! 🚗🧡

With stops in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, more than 70 nonprofit leaders, community partners and local advocates came together to connect, collaborate, and build momentum for paid family leave in Ohio.

Together, we shared updates on Senate Bill 396, strengthened relationships, and planned the work ahead. While the legislature is in recess, our coalition is focused on engaging businesses, educating lawmakers, and organizing communities across the state.

✨ It's hard to believe it's been one year since Collaborate Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio Worker Center launched the Pay Transparency Implementation Committee—and we're proud of what we've accomplished together.

Over the past 12 months, the committee has worked to ensure Cleveland's pay transparency law is meaningful and accessible for workers and employers alike. Together, we've:

✔️ Created FairPayCleveland.org, where workers can learn about the law and report violations
✔️ Hosted online employer education sessions and shared resources through social media
✔️ Launched a public awareness campaign to ensure workers know their rights.

As implementation continues, we're committed to ensuring that workers know their rights and employers have the tools they need to comply with the law.

Collaborate Cleveland is thrilled to welcome Elfreda “Alfie” Chatman-Walter as the City of Cleveland’s FIRST Program Manager of the Fair Employment Wage Board (FEWB).

The FEWB is responsible for overseeing the implementation of three pro-worker ordinances, including Cleveland’s pay transparency law passed in Spring 2025. We're so glad to be collaborating with Alfie on the pay transparency implementation committee.

Since joining our team in May, Eliza has brought a passion for building relationships and connecting people to meaningful work. She believes philanthropy is ultimately about people and is inspired by what can happen when individuals come together around a shared purpose.

Did you see News 5 Cleveland’s recent feature discussing the real-life impact of paid family and medical leave for Ohioans? If so, you might have recognized our Director of Advocacy Margie Glick, who was interviewed for the story!

As Margie shares, no one recovering from a stroke, heart attack, or other major medical event should have to worry about how they'll pay their bills while focusing on healing. Paid leave can provide the stability people need during some of life's most difficult moments.

On June 2, Paid Leave (SB 396) received its first committee hearing, where sponsors shared testimony on how paid family and medical leave would support Ohioans during major life events without forcing them to choose between caregiving and financial stability.

A committee hearing is a key step in the legislative process and reflects growing momentum for the bill, built through sustained advocacy from workers, families, and partners across Ohio.

Our partners came together for our Spring Partner Meeting to explore how we can strengthen belonging and engagement across our community. We reflected on our shared values, discussed the psychology of belonging, and generated ideas for how partners want to connect and engage moving forward.🌱
