Restore Cleveland Hope's visionary founder, Joan Southgate, celebrated her 97th birthday this week. She continues to inspire us. Some 25 years ago Joan retraced the steps of the Freedom Seekers who escaped from being enslaved and walked through the state of Ohio to Canada covering over 500 miles. Come to the Cozad Bates House in University Circle and learn more about Ohio's major role in the Underground Railroad. We are open for free tours each Saturday Noon- 4pm.

St Martin de Porres summer camp kids searched for clues for our UGRR Find &Seek game. It wasn't a railroad and it wasn't literally underground but the UGRR was a secretive, illegal way to help freedom seekers escape from being enslaved. The intrepid campers found lots of answers. It was a time when people stood up for what was right-- freedom for everyone.

Campers from Brookdale Orchard came to see us us this week. They toured the Cozad Bates House inside and out. We think they learned a lot. We all had a great time.
