Welcome Ember!
Him and his owner came all the way from Chicago to work on his intense reactivity on the leash, walking and socializing with other dogs. Although the socializing with other dogs isn’t the number one thing his owner wants, she voiced she’d love to take Ember to parks and enjoy time with her dog without the massive outbursts - And we are going to make sure she can do that! Socializing is just one of the many steps we are taking to get him there.
This footage is from his day 1 of 4 with us and we will be posting as we work with him this week so make sure to be following us for more on him. Day two was completed today and let’s just say if you watched our stories, you know he’s doing really well… ☺️
The First Step to Fixing Hyperactivity
When working with a hyperactive dog, the first goal isn't perfect obedience, it's getting their attention back on you. Dogs that are constantly scanning the environment and fixating on distractions often need to learn how to focus before anything else. Once engagement improves, leash walking and overall dog obedience become much easier. Focus first. Everything else gets built from there!
