National Administrative Professionals’ Day recognizes the professionals who keep an office running smoothly every day. The International Association of Administrative Professionals defines administrative professionals as individuals who are responsible for administrative tasks and coordinate information in order to support an office environment, and who are dedicated to furthering their growth in their chosen profession. Administration includes a wide variety of duties including office management, answering the phone, clerical work, speaking with clients, data entry, and record maintenance.

Are you taking the proper steps prior to ordering a background check to be in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)?

To be FCRA compliant, an employer must...

✔ Disclose to the candidate that you intend to run a background check on them, and the purpose for it
✔ Obtain signed authorization from the candidate which permits the employer to run the background check

In addition, an employer should also provide the candidate with a 'Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act' document as prescribed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Certain states also require specific disclosures and procedures as well.
