Northeast Ohio is home to a growing and vibrant AAPI population, with more than 50,000 residents in Cuyahoga County alone, representing diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. At Smart Development, we are proud to serve and stand alongside AAPI Newcomers and families as they navigate pathways toward stability and long term success.

This month is not only about celebration, but also about recognizing the ongoing need for inclusion, representation, and culturally competent support systems. We honor the strength, entrepreneurship, and cultural richness of Cleveland’s AAPI community and remain committed to uplifting voices, expanding access, and building a more inclusive future for all ❤️

This morning, Smart Development had the privilege of delivering beds and essential household supplies to one of our Afghan families who arrived in Cleveland in 2023. Moments like these remind us that support is not just about meeting immediate needs, it is about showing up with care, consistency, and compassion as families continue building their new lives.

What makes each interaction with our families especially meaningful is the connections we’ve built along the way. As our staff spent time with the family, the mother warmly welcomed us with fresh homemade bread, a beautiful gesture that reflects trust, culture, and genuine appreciation. These are the moments that stay with us ❤️

120+ households served this past weekend at our mobile pantry distribution in partnership with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank! 🍏🥬🥒🍓🫐🍍🍠🧅

We are thankful to be able to continue to create ways to maintain food security for residents of the community to ensure to close the gap of food insecurity.

April is National Arab American Heritage Month, and at Smart Development, we proudly celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans in Cleveland.

Our community is strengthened by both newly arrived families and generations of Arab Americans who continue to shape the region with resilience, talent, and leadership. We are honored to serve and stand alongside these communities as they build stability, opportunity, and a sense of belonging.

This month and always, we celebrate the voices, stories, and impact of Arab Americans across our city ❤️

We are so thankful to be a partner of World Vision USA to be able to receive ongoing free toy donations! We can’t wait to distribute these toys to children across Greater Cleveland to enjoy! 🧸

Smart Development is so thankful for a successful MENA Newcomer Day through the Newcomer Navigator Program, bringing together community, resources, and support for families across Greater Cleveland.

76 households were served, reaching a total of 421 individuals in total who accessed critical services, public benefits support, resources, and guidance from our dedicated community partners. The Newcomer Navigator Program managed and led by Smart Development and Re:Source Cleveland is in its 3rd year and we couldn’t be more proud of its success together!

Smart Development was especially proud to contribute a wide range of in-kind essentials to support families in their day-to-day lives. Items distributed included shampoo, conditioner, dental care products, makeup kits, toys for children, winter coats, and other household necessities helping ensure families can meet basic needs with dignity as they build stability.

Thank you to all our partners who really made the day even more special!

This day was a powerful reminder of what is possible when community partners come together with shared purpose. The impact goes beyond numbers it reflects trust, access, and a stronger, more connected community for our Newcomer families.
