Glenn Student Poster Contest: Call for Abstracts | American Astronautical Society 06/15/2023

Good Afternoon,

The John Glenn Memorial Symposium brings together high-ranking government officials, industry executives, academia, and others from the aerospace community. This year’s theme is Powering Innovation from Earth to Mars.

The Glenn Symposium Student Poster Contest is back for a second year to showcase the hard work and dedication the next generation has in their commitment to advancing space! The Call for Abstracts is now open for this contest.

High school, undergraduate, and graduate students are eligible to enter for their chance to present their findings in front of hundreds of space industry leaders at the 5th Annual John Glenn Memorial Symposium at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio on July 17-19, 2023. Winners be rewarded free registration to a future AAS Symposium!

The system will continue to accept applicants until Close of Business Monday June 19th.

Out for Undergrad (O4U) Engineering Conference deadlines
Round 3: Sunday, May 7th, 2023

*It is encouraged that students apply as soon as possible, as O4U Engineering has historically selected more students during Rounds 1 and 2.



The Out for Undergrad Engineering Conference will be held in person in St. Paul, MN, during October 20-22, 2023. It should be noted that this conference is geared towards serving students that identify as LGBTQ2+ and plan on pursuing a career in engineering, whether it be industry or academia. Students are admitted to attend the conference on a rolling basis. Flights, hotel, and conference costs are covered entirely by O4U.



Here is a little more about the conference:

Out for Undergrad is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization designed to help high-achieving LGBTQ2+ undergrads reach their full potential.
LGBTQ2+ engineering students will have the opportunity to discuss being out in the engineering industry and hear from professionals who are out in their careers.
Students will network with LGBTQ2+ peers and professionals from top engineering companies from a wide range of industries across the country.
Students will have the opportunity to find LGBTQ2+ mentors in their field.
Sponsoring companies will recruit students for jobs and internships at the career fair and throughout the conference. Some company sponsors in the past have included: General Motors, Medtronic, Clorox, ABB, Stantec, Ecolab, Barr, university graduate programs, and more!

Enhance student learning and engagement through inclusive practice! Dr. Tracie Addie guides CWRU faculty members through a two-part workshop on inclusive education and practice. During the first part of this workshop, participants will explore what inclusive educators do to create welcoming and equitable environments for their learners. In the second part, participants will apply the principles and practices learned to actual classroom scenarios. Join us on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 for a two-part workshop in the Mandel Community Studies Center Building, Room 108. Faculty members may participate in both sessions, or just one: Part I (10:30-11:30am); Part II (12:45pm-2:45pm). Lunch will be served in-between sessions from 11:40am-12:30pm.
