Sometimes a song takes you back. The things we know at 18, and all of the things we don’t.
Anyone else older and wiser now? (I hope all of us)
Come hangout with me at The Passenger on February 13th and 14th! I’ll be writing poems! I can’t wait to see you there ♥️

Storytime: I was 22 years old when I met my paternal grandmother for the first time. It wasn’t at an extended family gathering or a very delayed pre-planned meet up. It was at the Holiday Inn in Mayfield Village, Ohio, and I was working behind the front desk. 👩💻
She recently sent me this text message, “How does one deconstruct a life?” It’s been echoing in my head for a few months now.
There’s more to this story… the in-between of these two instances, but there also isn’t much. She’s a person I don’t know well, but she’s in my DNA. Honestly, I’m still trying to decide how I feel about all of it, and you’ll all find out someday in a nonfiction piece I’m writing.
Feel free to share your weird family stuff in the comments. Maybe together we can figure out how we feel.

Story time: It was very windy a few weeks ago in Colorado, which of course coincided with garbage day 😂. A few days afterwards, I was finding random bits of trash in my yard and came across a piece of paper.
I unfolded it, and quickly realized I’d found someone’s notes, which were probably from therapy. They were hand-written, and started in different places on the single page (I know the therapy scatter-brain well).
I had no idea who it belonged to, and know that what I read was incredibly intimate. At the same time, I felt lucky to get a small peek into someone’s life. The note ended with, “I’m not broken anymore.” ♥️
I folded the paper back up, ripped it to shreds, and threw it away. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
…..
This year, expect 52 poems from me, which I’ll post every Tuesday. Along with each poem, I’ll have a little story in the caption. In addition to this, I’m very busy working on my next poetry collection, a fiction novel (mystery genre), and on From Whispers to Roars. See you next week ✌️

Had a panic attack while on the peloton a few weeks ago. 100/10 do not recommend 😅
